Who We Are
Baan Suan — a garden of calm in Krabi
The idea for Baan Suan came from a long layover. Our founder, Khun Malee, had spent an afternoon sitting in a bright airport terminal with nowhere comfortable to go between a morning arrival from Chiang Mai and an evening connection to Ko Samui. That afternoon she thought: what if there were simply a quiet house nearby — a place to wash, sleep and feel human again?
She opened Baan Suan on Maharat Road in May 2019 with three rooms and a small garden. Word spread among travellers passing through Krabi Airport. Within a year, a suite had been added for families, and the shuttle service was running daily.
Today, Baan Suan still feels like someone's home — because it is. The team who greet you have worked here for years, the linen is pressed fresh for each guest, and the kettle is always on. We are not a hotel chain. We are a house that happens to be very good at welcoming tired travellers.
Our Mission
To make the in-between hours of travel feel less like waiting and more like a gentle pause — somewhere you can wash, rest and arrive at your next destination feeling yourself again.
Our Vision
A world where every airport neighbourhood has a calm, honest place like Baan Suan — where travellers are treated with warmth rather than efficiency, and rest is taken seriously.
Our Values
Warmth, honesty and unhurried attention. We believe that small details — a soft towel, a timed wake-up call, a car arranged without fuss — are what make a stay worth remembering.
The People Here
A small team, closely knit
Khun Malee
Founder & Host
Malee has lived in Krabi her whole life and opened Baan Suan after years of noticing how little care existed for travellers between flights. She oversees the rooms and greets long-stay guests personally.
Khun Nat
Guest Services Manager
Nat handles reservations, coordinates the shuttle and makes sure each room is prepared exactly as it should be. He has been with Baan Suan since the second year and knows the airport timetables by heart.
Khun Pim
Housekeeping & Breakfast
Pim keeps every room in quiet order and prepares the morning breakfast for early-departure guests. Her attention to small comforts — the extra pillow, the warm cloth on arrival — is what guests remember most.
How We Work
Standards we hold ourselves to
Guest Privacy
We do not share guest details with third parties. Room access codes and booking information are handled with care and discarded after each stay.
Cleanliness Protocol
Every room is fully turned over between stays — fresh linen, sanitised surfaces, replaced toiletries. Daytime rooms receive the same care as overnight ones.
Safe Transfers
Our shuttle drivers are experienced with Krabi's roads and familiar with terminal drop-off and pick-up points. Vehicles are serviced regularly and never shared without guest consent.
Safety Standards
Fire extinguishers and smoke detectors are checked every quarter. Emergency exit routes are clearly marked in every room and corridor.
Hospitality Training
All team members complete hospitality and guest-relations training relevant to short-stay accommodation. Ongoing feedback from guests shapes how we work.
Considerate Practices
We reduce single-use plastics in rooms, use energy-saving lighting throughout and partner with a local laundry service that uses water-efficient machines.
A rest house shaped by the rhythms of travel
Krabi Airport serves routes connecting southern Thailand to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and beyond. For many travellers, it is a transit point — a step in a longer journey rather than a destination. Baan Suan was built for this particular kind of guest: the person who arrives tired, has hours to fill and wants somewhere decent to spend them.
We sit on Maharat Road in the Krabi Yai district, close enough to the airport for a straightforward transfer and far enough from the terminal to offer genuine quiet. The lane is lined with greenery that keeps the rooms cool in the afternoons and gives the property its name — baan suan means "garden house" in Thai.
Our three accommodation types — the Daytime Rest Room, the Overnight Stay with Airport Shuttle and the Long Layover Suite — cover the full range of layover lengths from a few hours to a full day. Each one is designed with the specific needs of that stay in mind: the daytime room prioritises a fast, refreshing experience; the overnight option adds a proper night's sleep and breakfast; the suite gives families the time and space to recover at their own pace.
We do not take walk-ins without notice, because we believe a good welcome takes a little preparation. A message or a call ahead means your room will be ready, your shuttle arranged and, if you arrive on a late flight, your tea already warm.
